9/11: An Esoteric Take
Too Long for a Note, Too Short for a Post? Behold the Pot'nost. Like a Vegan Pot Roast but with More Meat.
Nine is the number of consciousness. How many thousands were savagely slapped awake on 9/11?
According to the Eleusinian Mysteries, it was the number of the spheres through which the consciousness passed on its way to birth, and in Pythagorean numerology the number 9 symbolizes the end of one cycle and the beginning of another.
René Guénon called it the number of the angelic hierarchies among other things, though able to be inverted “for there is a certain relation of inverse symmetry between the heavens and the hells.”
In Guénon's Esoterism of Dante, Dante’s beloved Beatrice represents 9, the triple ternary or 3 squared; the unifying feminine to Dante's masculine principle.

Perhaps fewer know the significance of number 11.
Guénon's Great Triad illustrates the significance of number 11 (whose multiples are as significant as 3 and 9), first in the initiatic groups;
“11’s multiple 22 is the number of letters in the Hebrew Alphabet; 33 is not only the symbolic age of Masonic Rosicrucianism and the highest degree of Scottish Masonry but also the number of years of Christ's life; 66 is the total numeric value of Allah and 99 is the number of principle divine attributes in Islamic tradition.”
11 is also a sign of recognition.
Guénon also notes that (odd number) 5 is attributed to Earth, and 6 (an even number) is ascribed to Heaven. Their addition together is profound.
Editing freely from the Great Triad chapter on Celestial and Terrestrial Numbers;
“[…] An exchange such as the one in question [5 and 6] can only occur when the two complementary terms are considered not in themselves and as separate units, but in relationship to each other or as actually united with each other.
[5 + 6 = 11. This is known as hierogamy, or sacred marriage, ie. Dante and Beatrice.]
In other words, 5 and 6 represent Earth and Heaven from the standpoint of manifestation — the product of this action and reaction. The word hierogamy can only be applied to two complementary terms envisaged as masculine and feminine in relation to each other."
Hierogamy (sacred marriage) could also be interpreted as unity of the ego and intuitive ‘sides’ of the brain. Iain McGilchrist writes over 600 pages on this in The Master and His Emissary.

Feminine symbolism is negative or cathodic, masculine symbolism is positive or anodic. The electrical nature of the symbolism ought not be overlooked.
"Complementaries are bound up (in a sense) with the relationship between Heaven and Earth; time is linked with Heaven through the idea of cycles — an idea that essentially has its basis in astronomy. [...] All complementary pairs can apply the symbolic language of Far-Eastern tradition, the duality of Heaven and Earth.
The geometrical shape corresponding to Heaven is the circle, and the shape corresponding to Earth is the square —
The square like all rectilinear shapes are measured by 5 and multiples of 5; circular shapes, on the other hand, are measured by 6 and its multiples.
The significance of number 11 is as the sum of 5 and 6 - and Man is the symbol of that 'central union of Heaven and Earth’, the number that establishes the perfection of the Ways of Heaven and Earth.
This significance, ascribed both to the number 11 and to its multiples, is also a point on which the most diverse of traditional doctrines are in complete agreement, in spite of being largely ignored by those who claim to study numerical symbolism.”
Guénon in his characteristic light and fluffy way goes on to describe the third aspect of the great triad centred between Heaven & Earth (11) — Man’s mind — truly the interface between Heaven and Earth.
Man is currently behind the 8 ball, but is slowly, painfully waking to his divine nature.
9/11 was a spiritual operation.

9 and the 5, 6, and 11 ... Insights I've not heard anywhere. Fascinating, as usual.
